WHAF Team UK: Summer Fayre Fun Day!

On Saturday, June 30, 2018, WeHaveAFace England and Wales held their Summer Fayre Fun Day. As with all of our fundraising events, we broaden awareness and education of Huntington's and Juvenile Huntington's disease. I set my alarm for 5:00 AM, so that I could be part of the event via FaceTime. It's not easy to adjust for the time differences for each of the WHAF HUBS, but it is always worth it!

WeHaveAFace England and Wales (lead by, President Daniel Heath, and Vice President Carol Kennedy), and their incredible team worked diligently to put this event together. Although it was a very hot day for our UK team, they pushed forward and had a successful event. Thanks for FaceTime, I truly felt like I was part of the event. I was virtually brought around to see the tables, educational materials, and even had the opportunity to meet many of the community guests.

"We were so pleased with the number of people who attended. We met a lovely woman who runs 'ADaPt Cafe' a support group for patients and carers with Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Parkinson’s. She was impressed by our organisation, and asked us to join them at their next event on Saturday, July 21st. WeHaveAFace England and Wales look forward to joining their event and networking." - Carol Kennedy (WHAF UK, VP)

The Summer Fayer brought other special community members out to support the cause, and to learn more about Huntington's and Juvenile Huntington's disease.

"The Vicar from the local village church (Nigel Lacey) and his lovely wife Rose joined us as well. We were also pleased that two social workers from Dorset attended. One of our aims is to network with as many leaders in the community as we can, and we are so glad that we are achieving this goal." Carol Kennedy (WHAF UK, VP)

WeHaveAFace England and Wales had many activities from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM: Raffles, Tombola, Plant Stall, Bric-a-Brac, Kiddies Stall, Bottle Stall, Cake Stall, Hook-a-Duck, Darts, Kids Lucky Dip, and Name the Teddy.

"It was a lovely summer's day to see the team and local community coming together to help raise funds and awareness for HD and JHD. The generosity of the community and team was humbling, and it was thoroughly enjoyable without losing sight of the importance of raising the awareness within our community. I am pleased to say that we raised ï¿¡700 from this Summer Fayre event, and we are so grateful." Daniel Heath (WHAF UK, President)

WeHaveAFace England and Wales had a very successful event! Personally, I am so proud of all of the WHAF HUBS and everything they do to broaden awareness of Huntington's and Juvenile Huntington's disease. No matter what time of day, or whichever season, I will always be there to celebrate with my international team!
