As many of you are aware, I am the creator of several Facebook Groups to support our HD/JHD community.
I started with WeHaveAFace as a Regional Advocate for Connecticut and worked my way up to Director of Communications.
I was honored and accepted the position which allows me to continue to work with my Facebook Groups.
In addition, it also allows me to follow my dream to create a vital program within WeHaveAFace: 1-on-1 Peer Support Services. This new program will facilitate phone calls, virtual video calls, and even text message supports.
I am available for people with HD, their caregivers, and their families. It is important to have a safe place to talk with a community member who seeks education, information, and resources.
Here are some examples of discussions we can have:
Wanting to vent, yell, talk or cry
Discuss genetic testing
Caregiving for someone with HD/JHD
Asking HD related questions
Help setting up Power of Attorneys or End of Life documents
Help getting in touch with a Center of Excellence
Discussing difficult topics: sex, abuse, suicidal ideation, etc.
